In 90 short seconds, this map and timeline combination shows how Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism began and spread throughout the world. The video also pauses to note key moments in the spread of each religion.

Discussion Questions

• Did anything about the spread of one religion or another stand out or surprise you?
• What do you think people may have believed in the “blank” sections of the map before any of these five religions arrived in the region? Why do you think the video doesn’t cover them?
• What do you think causes some of the religions to lose ground when there isn’t an obvious conflict between them?
• How do you think this might look different if it went on for another 90 seconds, i.e., another 5000 years into the future?  or another 100,000 years?
