Becoming the Pope actually isn’t that restrictive.  All you technically have to be is a Catholic and a man.  However, in practice it’s actually quite a long road to travel full of lots of bureaucracy.  This video discusses the process and some of the interesting details around choosing a new Pope.

• Can you describe the whole long process needed to climb the Catholic ladder and become Pope?
• What do you think would happen if becoming Pope was like becoming the President, i.e. anyone can run if they want?
• What would it look like if there was a Humanist Pope?  What would be the process and what ‘powers of office,’ if any, would they have?
