It’s a simple question, but only at first.  It’s actually pretty difficult to answer.  This video Rene Descartes’ famous phrase “I think, therefore I am.”  It goes through asking whether we can trust of senses, that we’re not dreaming, and that there isn’t an evil genius manipulating you.

Discussion Questions

• Can we trust our senses?
• Can we determine whether we’re dreaming or not?
• Can we know there isn’t an “Evil Genius,” or maybe that we’re living in the Matrix?
• What did Descartes mean by “I think therefore I am”?  Can we doubt that we exist?
