Description

A great 8-Bit philosophy video, which uses video games characters to explain concepts.  It questions whether or not God is useful, specifically with the thought experiment or story of Abraham and Isaac.  The video answers the problem with William James’ Will to Believe argument.

Discussion Questions

  • What is the problem with the story of Leonardo sacrificing Michaelangelo by God’s command?
  • What is James’ argument about believing something when the evidence is good on both sides?  What is a ‘dead hypothesis’?
  • If a question 1) has no evidence or equal evidence on both sides and 2) is a very important question to answer, then do you think you can decide based on emotion?
  • What is the pragmatic option of belief?
